Rockville, MD September 17, 2012 – North American Table Tennis has confirmed Joerg Rosskopf, Chen Weixing, Daniel Habesohn, and Liu Song will be competing as the team to beat at the 2012 JOOLA North American Teams Table Tennis Championships. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the event, which is held annually in Baltimore, MD.
All members of the team are Olympians. Joerg Rosskopf is a 5 time Olympian and former world champion. He won the silver medal in men’s doubles at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and the bronze medal at 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Returning to the Olympics in a different roles as the head coach of the Men’s team for Germany,he guided Dimitri Ovtcharov to a bronze medal in the Men’s Singles event while the Team earned a bronze medal in the Men’s Team event. Chen Weixing, a 3 time Olympian and a member of the Austrian national team. He is currently ranked 28th in the world and known for his defensive play. Daniel Habesohn is also a member of the Austrian national team and is ranked 74th in the world. Rounding out the team is Liu Song, a 4 time Olympian and a member of the Argentinian national team with a current world ranking of 119th in the world.
The 2012 JOOLA North American Teams Table Tennis Championships is the biggest tournament in the United States, using over 150 table tennis tables with teams competing from all over the world.
